Ok, so Tiana's taking the floor with some questions, comments and discussion topics...Let's give this a whirl, shall we? Tiana is going to post and we'll post back. Thanks!
Ok, so I just finished on Tuesday. Loved it! A little wearisome in the language, mostly with bringing the reader through the logic of what was going on. Good book though. Here are some questions to open the discussion. Which narrative did you enjoy the most and why? What did you think of Mr. Betteridge? What did you think of his dependence on Robinson Caruso? How would you have reacted had you witnessed the Moonstone theft as Rachel did? Did you figure it out before the end and if so at what point? Can you draw any parallels between Ms.? (seriously drew a complete blank, but I’m sure you know who I mean) zealousness in spreading Christianity with something you are passionate about?
I started the book really late! I am excited to finish it though. I'm only about 1/4 of the way through. I agree that the language can be a bit much, but it's fun. It is also making me very curious to read Robinson Caruso...I'll have to hold off on the discussion questions for now though...Sharon
Ok, so I'll go ahead and answer my questions... maybe that will help prompt others. I enjoyed Mr. Betterridge's narrative the most. I thought he was hilarious will all his opinions. Though his words made him sound harsh, he so wasn't. His manner in deciding to wed was classic. I also enjoyed the doctor's assistants narrative, mostly because he was detailed in what went on, and I found that some were not detailed enough. Rachel witnessing the theft of the Moonstone put her in a hugely difficult postition. If I had been her I probably would have asked what he was doing with it as he left the room. I'm not one to keep quiet (usually). Anyway, that's all for now.
Coral and Sharon are a dynamic mother/daughter duo who are starting their own online book club and you are invited to join! Sharon is doing well. She is back to work, back to reading, back to walking with a little less limping after too long of a recovery after back surgeries...! Coral is chomping at the bit to visit the grandkids (Sharon's nephew and neice) and enjoying driving her NEW car, a Dodge Caliber. She is sad to see her truck go, though. She is a librarian and author, so she is in the know on all the great books out there.
